The quest to find suitable and good quality water is increasingly becoming a big challenge worldwide. This situation exacerbated by climate change and population pressure. Among the various alternative technologies to augment freshwater resources, rainwater harvesting and utilization is a decentralized, environmentally sound solution which can avoid many environmental problems often caused in conventional large scale projects using centralized approaches.  A shift from “life-line” to decentralized ”life points” should be encouraged. Numerous scattered water resource ‘life points” within a  city are more resilient and can draw on rainwater and groundwater, providing the city with greater flexibility in the face of water shortages and earthquakes.
