Crop Stand Under Spate Irrigation

Technoserve, an Indian Based NGO is collaborating with Catholic Relief Services in supporting farmers adapt climate change in Dedza District, Central Malawi. This is being done through the promotion of Flood Based farming practises e.g. Spate Irrigation. To supplement water¬† supply when residual moisture is dwindling, the consortium has built a number of shallow wells from which farmers draw water using Treadle Pumps.
